SHESH-NAG

(THE THRONE OF VISHNU)

As per VEDAS, SHRI-MAD-BHAGWAT and other mythological literature the creation, management and destruction of the universe is work of GOD. The items present in it live as well as without life, are managed by him only.

In Indian mythology our thinkers have distributed the work of GOD in three facalities.

1.     Creation                 by BRAMHA
It includes the creation of life and other objects in it.
2.    Management           by VISHNU
It includes arranging feeding and surviving conditions.
3.    Destruction           by MAHESH
It includes destruction of all items with age.

The only facilities available were time and space. It is not explained yet, WHO created them. We may consider GOD himself has created them. In GEETA, HE says “I am bound with TIME in this world”. If HE has created the TIME; how can he be bound with it? Again we find HE never defies any doctrine devised by SELF (elaborated in PHYSICS).

Coming back to subject, in the pictures we find VISHNU lying on bed (shaiya) formed by coiling of the SHESH-NAG; LAXMI sitting near his feet.

If we try to understand the picture; which is symbolic
1.     VISHNU,               Himself: depicted as man; as the picture is created by
a MAN, the (indicating he is most intelligent, so VISHNU also like him).
2.    LAXMI                   The prosperity or assets (being female shown as lady)
                               required to manage the show.
3.    SHESH-NAG          the GALAXY (spiral shaped).
Now the question is when the Indian mythologists decided the universe is spiral shaped.

Modern astronomy has found out this fact in later half of 20th century only
