BRIDGE (GAME OF CARDS)

The most popular and intelligent game of cards is BRIDGE.

In indoor games it is second to Chess, when skill is counted.

It is a game of people of class and taste. There are national and international tournaments of this game of Cards only.

Having all above characteristics it has a very interesting story of origin also.

The story goes like this:

There was an important bridge at a critical location in sixteenth century. It was guarded all the time by four persons. If there would be crisis four personal were available to guard. At normal times one was sufficient.

Hence the guards devised this game of cards. In this game only three players were playing at a time and fourth one was free to keep a guard, marching on the bridge. By the time one round of was finished, he was available to bid for next round. It was also very flexible as during next round some other one will on guard.

FALLING ASLEEP

There are two types of persons

·       Lucky ones, who go to sleep before than can count till ten after hitting the bed.

·       Others, who cannot go to sleep for a long time after retiring to sleep.

This article is useless for type one people; informative for the type two.

I wish everyone is type one.

But if one is type two. There are some solutions, readily available.

·       Counting numbers till they fall asleep

·       Counting sheep

·       Remembering  a nice instance

These procedures tell how to sleep, but do not tell why. If we know that the solution will become very easily attainable.

The purpose of all above mental exercise, are to divert mind away from sleep

·       Make it unidirectional

·       Divert away from the intentions of sleeping

·        

The moment mind achieves it,, the person falls asleep.

We can understand it this way. There a dish, not our favoured. We do not remember it if it is not served for even several years. One day it is decided one will not get it next day. The result is the person wants it even in breakfast.

If the persons’ liking is spiritual; the best way described is ponder about character of Lord Krishna.

Logically, his character is multi facet. When one is absorbed thinking about it, all other thoughts are swiped away out of mind. In turn person falls asleep.

TEMPLE

TEMPLE is the place where statue of Deities is placed.

In Sanatan Culture (Hindu Dharma) number of deities is 3,300,000.

Some philosophers cum statue-maters (Saints) tried to sculpt some characteristics of God, like Jagan-nath (juggernaut). He can also be degraded to the level of Deity and placed in TEMPLE.

Anything or character or characteristic cannot represent the complete God    

God has created a number of characters to help survival of life; they are called Deities. (According to knowledge available on date, life is on Earth only).

Any character existing to help life is Deity. Life includes mankind and others like animals and vegetation. This article is limited to mankind only, as we know about us only.

Primey Deities are Sun (Surya), Moon (Chandra), Air (Vayu), Rivers (Sarita) Rain (Varsha), Ocean (Varun). Water is not in the list, as it is part of river and ocean.

There are other characters, to help in development of mankind like Gana-pati, 

Shankar, Hanuman etc. They are also counted in Deities.

Then there are planets in our Solar system, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, 

Saturn etc.; as they are also keeping the system stable, they are also counted 

in Deities.

There are some stars also, which are beyond the Solar system.

Further any other character helping mankind is Deity. That means the germs 

and enzymes converting, milk to yoghurt, Juice to wine or vinegar, Fruit to pickle 

are Deities.

TEMPLE is the place where we worship the Deities. Worshiping is like thanksgiving 

to Deities for the kindness they bestow upon us.

In Srimad Bhagwat Geeta, lord Krishna says, one worships any deity, he worships me only. But by worshiping Deity the result are fast as well as for short period.

Factually our God or Deity (whom we worship) is inside us only. When we go to 

TEMPLE we move the God or Deity into the statue, to facilitate the concentration 

and then worship.

These Deities are there to help mankind and do not require anything in return, 

not even thanks. But we dedicate offerings in TEMPLES thinking we are offering 

to Deities. This is our ignorance. We actually make these offerings to the temple 

as it has to be maintained. The Gold and Jewels go in reserve.

Maintenance of TEMPLE is a big job, it includes salary of priest, keeping it clean, organizing and safety of crowd of worshipers, taking care of repairs and expansion.

Quite a few big TEMPLES run Orphanages, Shelters, Schools, Colleges and Hospitals. Some of them arrange food also for devotees as well as poor.

Again there are Honest as well as Dishonest TEMPLES.

CRYING

Weeping or CRYING is the costliest luxury one can have at the time of crisis.

At the time, of crisis one requires to keep cool, so he can visualize the situation properly. If he starts crying the whole situation gets spoiled. Crying is extreme expression of emotional. While one CRYING one cannot understand the problem.

If one is unable to understand the problem; finding a solution or salvaging the situation is out of question.

Of course CRYING has numerous advantages. The biggest is if one weeps, the brain becomes clear. One can analyse the problems and find good solutions. This position is reached after some time later after CRYING, not while CRYING.

CRYING is the only means of communication a child has; in fact at the time of birth and up to eighteen month it is the limit of his vocabulary.

CYING is the biggest weapon a wife has. Which no husband could face yet.

INTELLIGENCE

The nearest companions of INTELLIGENCE are laziness and crookedness.

Hard working person will work on a project, the way it is prescribed. and complete it. He does not require INTELLIGENCE (function of brain).

INTELLIGENCE comes in picture when someone wishes to finish the project, working less or without working.

Honest person will do the work prescribed way and will be satisfied with the scheduled reward. He does not require brain to function.

INTELLIGENCE comes in picture when someone wishes to get more than scheduled reward without performing the prescribed way.

ACQUENTANCES

We have three types of relations with any other person

·       Friend

·       Foe

·       Unknown

Now we are in age of computer. Computer works on binary system.  That means his vocabulary is of two worlds; 1 and 0 or YES and NO. With this limited vocabulary computer works so well and fast.

If we apply the same in our life in field of ACQUAINTANCES (relationship), most of complications and tensions on the subject shall disappear.

Let us try to do this, for that we shall have to merge two relations together.

1.     We cannot merge Friend and Foes:      As there is one more party involved

and, he most probably shall not agree.

2.     We cannot merge Friend and Unknown:    It will be the best, but not possible

    due to number of unknowns.

3.     We cannot merge Foes and Friends:         Same as probability 1(one).

4.     We cannot merge Foes and Friends:         Due to number of unknowns as well as

     attitude of foes.

5.     The only possibility left is merge ;           It may seem initially difficult but

Foes with Unknown                                   worth a thought. One may have to rub       some of his own kinks only, but it will clear most of tensions of life. (One has not to interact with no one excluding inner self.

All saints and great persons asked to merge Foes with friends. They also wanted to work on binary, but very difficult.

This above idea looks easier, as the parties involved are one and his conscious only; so independent of all variables.

BHARAT

Original name of India is BHARAT.

Let us discuss first how this place was named India.

The prime river of Indian sub-continent was Sindh. So the nearest country of India, Afghanistan used to call the area around and beyond Sindh; Sindh. As the pronounce S as H, Sindh became Hindh later Hind. This was changed to India by British.

Analysis of name BHARAT:

MITH:

We all know the storey of King Dushyant and his wife Shakuntala (To whom he married by *Gandharv Vivah System) their brave son BHARAT. As per mith the name BHARAT of sub-continent is on given due to him.

MAX MULLER (6 December 1823 – 28 October 1900), (British national of

German origin, scholar of Sanskrit language and Indian culture):

According to him:

BHARAT  =  BHA (Light) + RATI (Intercourse). Where people indulge in intercourse in light (Day time)

       ACTUAL INTERPETATION (As per Indian Thinkers):

BHARAT  =  BHA (Light/knowledge) + RATI (Intercourse), Where people do not accept the knowledge even without Intercourse (Interaction or thinking)

* Gandharv Vivah :    one of the nine system systems of marriage

approved in Sanatan Dharm Culture. In this two persons (of opposite sex) can marry placing Sun

or Moon as evidence.

SILK

Sanatanies (Hindus) especially Brahmins are usually vegetarians.

Usually they never kill animal and birds. (Insects are exception)

But they wear with pride SILK at most auspicious occasions, rituals and functions.

Not only that they were it while performing religious functions as well as Pooja.

I cannot understand how a vegetarian can toch even, forget wearing, a cloth made by the bdy of certain insect. One can they are not made by the body of insect. I is made by the discharge of his body.

Still in the process of making SILK, the insects are boiled alive. HOW CRUEL

FAILURE

Failure is a common feature of everyday life.

To be precise it is not failure of life, it is failure of an attempt.

We generally confuse between “failure” and “failure of attempt”.

Behind every success there are numerous failures.

Nobody has ever reached to success, without failure rather several failures.

Let us understand it this way:

In the laboratory a scientist is trying to get some results. Will not get the desired results in first attempt; probably not. But he shall keep on trying and after several attempts will get the desired results.

The same is in life. One has to consider the failure to failure of attempt and keep on trying till he gets success.

INDIRECT TAXES

Here we are not talking against taxes, and duties.

We know the government requires money (revenue) to run the country. It requires allot of more money (revenue) to run the country, effectively as well as efficiently.

There other sources of revenue depending upon other resources of the country, but we are not talking about them here.

Business houses and Individuals pay taxes depending upon their earnings and duties on luxury items.

Business houses and make profits and pay taxes. Individuals serve in business houses or Government departments, get salaries and pay taxes.

Government employs personal to collect taxes, customs and duties,

Up to now process is normal, so is functioning of system.

The problem starts, when Business houses are appointed to collect the tax, like Sales

 tax and Service tax.

Economics and Accountancy talk about

·       Supply and Demand.

·       How to make maximum profit.

·       How to manipulate heads to make more profit.

It does never talk about Morals and Honesty.

So he is able to manipulate the Sales; Sales tax and Service tax are automatically manipulated. Further there are chances of manipulating the collected taxes too.

As a result

·       Revenue in Government is reduced.

·       The consumer is obliged to pay more.

Common public thinks the Government is taxing him more, whereas he is paying more to the Business House.

Hence it is logical Government collects the taxes directly, not through intermediates.

MUSLIMS (IN INDIA)

It is impossible for MUSLIM to keep his religion in non-Islamic country like India.

Let us consider the situation in India, where maximum population of MUSLIMS exists.

The problem starts with custom of “Wishing” in a cultured society. Wishing each other is most important and common feature when too persons meet.

Muslim cannot wish a non-Muslim saying Salam–Vale-Cum; as it is for

a person follows Islam only. He also cannot wish other person saying

Adab-Arz-Hai. As by saying this he is bowing down to somebody else

other than Allah.

It struck to my, when some Muslim scholars objected on Yoga exercise; SURYA NAMASKAR. If we talk of SURYA NAMASKAR; it is set of Yoga exercises and has nothing to do with SURYA or NAMASKAR. Sanatanies (Hindus) are habituated to bow down to everybody, even animals and stones. At the same time Sanatanies do not feel degraded, but feel honored in bowing to someone.

WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS

Here is a different perspective on the subject.

Responsible for the situation of Elders, is Elders themselves. One can feel pity on their situation. But if anybody can help is, the Elders themselves.

We all know the whole society is created, educated and bread by the Elders only, in their prime age. The data furnished are pathetic, but Elders reach to this stage due to their behavior only.

I myself belong to the same Elder class, now aged 67 years.

I am proud to say, am positioned in the better percentage of statistics.

As per a research study conducted by Helpage India,50% of

the elderly face exploitation in various forms. Verbal Abuse

(41%), Disrespect (33%) and Neglect (29%) are ranked the

most common types of offenses against them. The number of

these cases are going up at an alarming rate.

I am a lucky father of two beautiful daughters and both of them used to fight with me since they were three; they still contiuing after 30 years. Of course I am well respected since beginning, may be progressively more with their age.

The root causes of the problems indicated by Helpage India are following

1.     The parents get children for numerous reasons. One of the prime one is;

When they have quarrel between themselves and no one is winner the anger is released on children; shouting, scolding and at times beating. The same happens when they come home frustrated of treatment on world. Due think children do not have sub-conscious brain, placed above all education and breeding.

2.     A child gets a tiny happiness, first he wants to share with his parents. At the same time we every day hear senior persons  complaining

New generation of today…………. (Separating the younger ones, as they are of other clan)

If we discard younger’s like this in our prime time; how will they react, when we are out dated.

A short storey I read when I was too young:

I couple in their prime age, brought wooden plates and cups, for their parents; as they were too old and plates used to break as they could not hold them study.

One day the couple saw their five year child, making something out of wood.

Curiously they asked, what he was doing. The reply was “I am making cup for

you, one day you will also grow old.

 I wish to share an instance happened recently with me in person:

I was travelling on a bus, as it was crowded did not get a seat and was

standing. I young girl of about 18-19 years, insistently gave me her

seat. Some other ladies were standing and that particular seat offered

was reserved for ladies. I had to get down three stops ahead. Visualizing

the situation I decided to offer the seat to another girl of about the same

age. Upon this the first girl got upset and started shouting on me. I

apologized to second girl and gave the seat to first girl. The episode

finished in good taste and it never went out of harmony.

The specific point is I never felt humiliated or insulted in the whole episode. All the time the tone of both the girls was as if they were talking (shouting) to some elder of their own family.

Concluding I would theorize WE ELDER CARVE OUR DISTNY BY SELF.

OPENING A FILE

Working any where we take a big credit in starting a new work, in other words opening new a file.

It should be other way round. One should feel proud when is able to finish a job properly or close a file successfully.

Let us look in a different perspective. To run a vehicle is a very easy job. Start the engine; apply the gear, vehicle starts moving. By the grace of God all the human organs are aligned well so within another few minutes we are able to move the vehicle in the direction we want. The real skill of driving comes in, when we are able to stop the vehicle when and where required.   So we do not get driving licence for moving the vehicle but stopping it at proper moment and position.

Alignment of organs can be understood this way; try to move

in one direction while looking at other, even at a small angle.

So it can be theorized, one should feel successful, when finishing a work in not while starting.

Another example is; a good musician does not require playing on high notes. He may play on lower notes (it does not matter) but can maintain the sequence (composition) of the notes till finish.

TOUCHING FEET

In Indian culture TOUCHING FEET is quite a significant feature. It signifies how a person keen to learn, takes blessings of a learned person.

As usually understood, it is not a social custom, to pay respect to elders. In the form it is used today is complete distortion of a very technical custom. And the way it is usually performed, it mockery only.

This custom is solely between and a person keen to learn a learned person.

In this process of touching feet, energy is transferred from the learned to learner or two people; if knowledge level is vastly different.

To understand this system, we have to understand a few other features like anatomy of human body and energy concentration due to knowledge.

Looking in technical field, we notice the shafts of rotating bodies are chamfered at the edge. It is done to reduce the stress concentration, in turn avoiding chipping of edge. The shaft accumulates stress concentration at the edge due to rotating and transferring the energy to other shaft of other equipment.

The same way learned persons of certain field or spiritualism accumulate power at nodes (finger tips) of the body. Generally the nails and tips are transfer points of power.

When a person, touches the nails another person of higher capacity, with his finger tips, power or energy flow from higher level to lower level.

Looking at other aspects, there is no use of touching feet of the persons

Who walk bare foot as the energy produced is drained (earthed) not accumulated in the body.

Who wears leather foot wears, as the person who touching dead skin is not hygienic enough.

The only person worth touching feet is one who is learned and wears wooden sandals (khadau)

RAM SETU

One of the man-made wonders is the bridge named RAM SETU on the sea between India and Sri Lanka.

As per Indian mythology, it was constructed by the two monkeys NAL and NEEL, sons of deity VISHVAKARMA.

Let us first understand the architecture of this bridge.

It is not a usual bridge which we see every day, or get the impression when we hear the word.

It is rather a walkway, which is usually made in rainy seasons, with help of bricks or small stones to cross a puddle of water. In this case it is shallow sea.

According to myth, NAL and NEEL used to throw the stones in the sea, and they used to float on water, due to divine power they had.

But it is not possible, as the principles of physics are universal; items of higher specific gravity cannot float on liquid of lower specific gravity.

The sea is quite shallow between India and Sri Lanka at Rameshwaram. So they built the walkway at Rameshwaram, as detailed above. That walkway is still visible at places (after more than 9,000 years) and can be traced all through the length.

But to build that walkway was not an easy job. To trace a almost level track, under the sea water was not easy. After that, placing stones without any mortar, positioned by their center of gravity was next to impossible task.

All these qualities of this walkway make it a real wonder.
