KALIA MARDAN

When lord Krishna was born in jail of Mathura, his father Vasudev, carried him from Mathura to Vrindaban to King Nand.

To reach Vrindaban, he had to cross the river Yamuna.

At that time it was raining heavily & Vasudev had to carry Krishna on head, [to keep him out water] as river Yamuna was quite deep.

While crossing the river, the snake Vasuki made umbrella of his fang, to save Krishna from rain.

When Krishna was twelve years old; he was invited by Kansa to Mathura. Again Krishna had to cross the river Yamuna. While of crossing the river he killed demon snake Kalia.

Kalia was a very ferocious snake. According to myth, the water of Yamuna had become green due to intensity of his poison.

Above episode of mythology raise a few questions
• Were Nag Vasuki & Kalia Nag were same
• If Vasuki was so good [deity] at the time of birth of Krishna, how he became so bad [demon] in twelve years.
• If they were different, then where was Kalia at the time of birth of Krishna.
• When Vasuki left the area [Yamuna] & kalia took over.
• If at the time of birth of Krishna, both were there, then what was their location.
• Places of crossing the river Yamuna, of Vasudev [at time of birth of Krishna] & Krishna after twelve [When he was going to Mathura on invitation of Kansa] were different & how many kilometre away.
• There is one more possibility; being night time Kalia Nag was sleeping, & Nag Vasuki being deity, came only to help Vasudev. Now we are obliged to think, how bad deity of rain Indra is.
demons are also known as nishi-chars
• One possibility still exist; there was one way traffic; Nag Vasuki on way to vindaban & Kalia Nag on way to Mathura

1 comment:

  1. When Vasudev was crossing river Yamuna carrying Lord Krishna. Every Deity was trying to help Vasudev, in performing the transfer of Lord Krishna to Vrondavan.
But there were two exeptions also
    1. River Yamuna: Her water level was increasing finatically just touch feet of God endangering the life of Vasudev & Lord krishna.

    2. Lord Indra: Creating heavy rains endangering the life of Vasudev & Lord krishna.
